We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Dean Barnett says it better. Indeed, it was a war the Left would not permit us to win - although we were winning. Why? Because evil Amerika must never prevail.
Well, this thread has been up for almost seven hours and not one response.
I'm not going into any long comments. I've made enough of them for everyone who visits here to know I intensely dislike the left. Yeah they lost the war in Vietnam for us and they loved it. I will not forgive or forget. And when I meet them today I give no quarter ... piss on them.
Maybe the subject is worn out. I was there with the 25th Division in '66 and '67. The consequences of Westmoreland's idiotic Search and Destroy strategy was the wearying slaughterhouse that ensued. Even by '67, everyone was sick of it, mostly those of us who were part of it.
The Left seized upon a mood that was already in place. A poll from the '90's I cannot cite, found that about 75% of us who were there would do it again, even knowing what we know now. That's true. We didn't lose; we quit the field, and the seeds of that action were planted by Westmoreland....and the cynical criminal MacNamara.
