We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Socialism

Socialism advances via invented crises to alarm the people, or to seduce the people, into foregoing the markets for goods and services.

I have no doubt that Hillary is a socialist, whether she admits it to herself or not. Anyone who wants the State to take over the medical businesses, which are 16% of our economy, and the oil industry, which is ? % of our economy, has a good start on taking over all of it.

As to the end game of the socialists: good thinking people are going to have a hard time convincing the herd that socialism is baaaad once the wheels start to fall off the wagon. Not that they aren't already, but I mean REALLY fall off the wagon- like gas lines and food lines and meds lines and brown outs daily. You know, California style disintegration.

At this point the media hypnotists will simply trot out the "blame Bush" (=blame capitalism and anything which came before) mantra. This will happen for as long as things are bad. If things are tolerable we will be told that today's 2.4 oz ration of chocolate is better than yesterday's 3.1 oz ration.

It will be up to the Remnant to try and keep things straight, if they can. Pulling in ones limbs and playing turtle till the end is not my style, but I am only one.

Did I mention these socialists scare the crap out of me?

Think of some combination of SR-22 (high risk auto,) HSA (Health Savings Accts - including mandatory, high deductible Cat Cov. Health policy,) and Medicare Part D.

The "Key" is avoiding "Adverse Selection."
