Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Where's the Leftist version of Maggie's Farm?

I don't bother checking to see what the Leftist blogosphere is talking about anymore, because it has become so hatefully emotional and juvenile that you cannot learn anything from it.

To find out what the grown-ups of the Left are thinking, you have to go to dreary places like The Nation, which is a magazine, not a blog.

In The Nation, Lawrence Goodwyn has The Coming Party Realignment. Life is terrible, he feels. He is certain that we are in the 1930s again. He hates globalization of markets, he hates Bush, and I think he wants to tax financially successful people down to the mean. Well, it was the best example of Lefty thinking I could find today, but I found little fact or truth in it. Very disappointing. (BTW, he uses the word "democracy" for "socialism.")

Where is the Leftist Powerline and the Leftist American Thinker? And the Leftist Maggie's Farm? Leftist blogs that are interesting, rational, informative, and fun? I'd read 'em.

of course 'democracy' is substituted for 'socialism', in the leftist world/life view everything is upside down, natural hierarchies are flattened, ugly is beautiful, anarchy is noble, truth is false except of course for the TRUTH that there is no truth. I just hope we can hit bottom with this awful cultural parasitic meme without a lethal crash.

Well I suppose Mr. Goodwyn will be happy with the recommendation's of the "Canadian Federation of Students." His 'better' world grows closer too realization.

I have my fill of leftist news when I go online and AOL news pops on. The selection of what they cover and how they cover it is blatantly liberal. I already know that there cannot be an interesting lefty website because they always just BS their way around the truth. After I sneak past the AOL news I run to the Drudge Repot for the real news. By the way, do all those lefties spend their days continually voting on the AOL polls just to skew the results or are Americans really that stupid?

Re "The Nation", i always think of editor Katrina vanden Heuvel--who is a babe BTW--and her big battle with the IRS. Seems the doyen of punitive taxation, especially the death tax, didn't want to pay up when it came to Katrina vanden Heuvel.

Well, praying for economic turbulence so you can have one party Democrat rule for forty years is not exactly groundbreaking strategy. If the Depression doesn't show up, you just declare prosperity to be poverty and keep on shoveling shinola.

Never mind that. What's up with that writing? It's dreadful drivel. It was like orphaned boneless wordfish washed up willy-nilly on the text editor beach. It had almost a narcotic effect. I half expected the guy to start with the running dog lackeys of the imperialist capitalists and their willing minions in the zionist banking houses must be smashed... and so forth.

I love it when you can smell the mimeograph fluid right through the internet.

That is quite possibly some of the most boring, mind numbing words I've ever written. If that's what the Dems think is going to energize the average voter, maybe they should leave their ivory towers and talk to some real folks.

On the economy, they are exactly analogous to wanting to junk the new Caddy because the floormats are dirty. No worries, the insurance'll make 'em good.

And their insurance, in the analogy, is the slowing down of all this uncontrolled accumulation of slave-liberating private property.

Are the people who vote on all these polls numerous times the same people who clap on the View whem Rosie blovates? In the locker room where I workout CNN was on the TV. They were showing Harry, the land baron, Reid ranking on the Prez. Someone said; "The dems are really down on the Prez, but he deserves it because of all the times he attacks them". I said that I missed when the Prez attacked the dems. I asked him if he usually watches CNN and if he believes what they report. He didn't anser. Another potential friend lost. I finding it harder these days to suffer fools.
