We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Men: Giant Eyebrows, Nose Hair, Ear Hair, etc.


The lady who did the stand-up we linked yesterday got me thinking about male grooming. 


Once men reach middle age, grooming becomes more necessary. Aberrant hair growth is not neat. It's unpleasantly distracting. My barber takes care of those things routinely. He was kidding this morning about the guys who like to keep their giant wings of grey eyebrows. I suggested that it might look distinguished, like a member of The House of Lords. It's not for me.


He didn't know what The House of Lords was, but that's OK. He grew up in Sicily, and, sadly, hates both Sicily and Italy. Likes the USA.

When I was just out of college there was a farmer that came into my place of work who looked like he had toothbrushes growing out of his ears. It really bothered me.

Now that I am in the sunset years I have hair growing out of my ears and the odd hairs on my earlobes. I try to keep them trimmed back as they annoy me. My wife, bless her little ol' heart, thinks the hair looks "cute".

My eyebrows are trimmed when my hair is cut but I can't really tell that it matters on me.

I'm for the crazy British scientists eyebrows. One barber told me another customer grew them larger to intimidate his grandchildren. (Waiting for Hurricane Ian to pass by, at least the internets works)

Who says god doesn't have a sense of humor? My wife's grandfather was bald but had lots of hair growing out of his ears.

A friend of mine had a picture of here great grandma that was taken about 1900 when she was in her 80's and she literally had a moustache and goatee. Not intentionally and not trimmed as if she wanted it, it simply grew and for whatever reason she never did anything to eliminate it.

If Sicily and Italy were so great, he wouldn't have left.
My uncle's father came over from Ireland. My uncle got a similar response when he was a child and asked his father about Ireland.

Ask a Mexican legal/illegal about the insurance he has to pay on his car when he takes it to Mexico.

I've been making the effort to shave more frequently and to pay more attention to grooming in general:

When you look better, you tend to feel and act better too.
