Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I would feel younger if I was married to a grandmother. I am married to a great grandmother. (Of course, she is married to a great grandfather.)

I'm just adjusting to being old and a grandmother. I feel just as well as I ever have, lots of energy and ride my bicycle 10 miles most days, but am trying to adjust to what is expected of someone at my stage of life. We have to set a good example. We have to be graceful. Mostly, I just hope to be as gracious and lovely and beautiful and kind as my own mother was in her golden years. If I can just do that I may have reached success.

Bullshit. Driving through a college town and thinking a bunch of kids escaped a day care is when you feel old.

I enjoy growing old with my wife. We only have three grands so far, but I'm a young granddad because we got married at 18 35 years ago.

Children are a blessing. Grandchildren are a relief.
