We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I saw it over 3 nights, instead of binge watching, and thought it was great.
I'll watch again someday for the dialog I missed - they do talk funny (ha ha ha, from someone born in Brooklyn, ha ha ha).
In one scene they discuss a newspaper report about them that was completely distorted, mostly false...made me think about whether other info I knew or read about them was true or not.
I urge everyone to watch the series. You don't have to be a Beatles fan. Definitely not tedious to me.
I made it through most of first part, but it's almost TMI, and feels a bit like voyeurism or fanboy obsession to so closely track every intimate moment of their work to put a performance together. Banal is a good word.
This is from a lifelong hardcore Beatles fan, from before their first appearance on Ed Sullivan.
As an (amateur) musician myself who plays with others, I found the group dynamics, both specific to music and in general, to be fascinating. So many echoes of things I recognize from my own experience of producing music with other people.
It's long, but if the subject interests you, it's absorbing.
We watched it over 3 nights. It was interesting and I came away with a different opinion of them (more positive) I was surprised in that John Lennon was a fairly quiet person and McCarthy was the defacto leader and driven one. It was interesting how they communicated and came up with songs and lyrics. I was also surprised at how versatile they were on instruments.
I went to the theater to see Jackson's doc on WWI and I think what he does he cares about.
