We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
But any trial can be made 'political' in very short order, by forces completely outside one's control - as we've seen in other cases covered by Jacobson. So in truth, this applies to any trial anywhere.
This wasn't mob justice. From the country's highest office down, the State, the City, the Law, the Judge, the All-star Corporate Lawyers, the Media, and the Mob let the individuals on the jury know what would happen if they didn't find for Guilty. They left nothing to the imagination. The jury wasn't just facing a mob.
I still don't get what negroes ever did to deserve this sort of tribute. Any negro in America today is the beneficiary of a gift they did nothing to deserve. Bing kidnapped by Africans and shipped here didn't happen to them. Yet they are here instead of in a mud hut living on bugs and monkey pot pie. If there is a racial debt in this country, it is blacks who owe.
Black men are thirty five times more likely to be violent criminals than are white me. And white men owe black men something?
This will end because of the belligerence of the worthless.
I don't recall the specific post of mine that was deleted. I know it didn't violate the ToS but, apparently, LI was afraid my comment would trigger the mob. There's no way to go back and look, AFAIK.
I know that people are cynical, but that is not the same thing as actually having evidence. To the speaker and some hearers, it masquerades as wisdom: Yeah, they're all crooked down there...this was a foregone conclusion...all the peeople who haven't been taken in already knew what was up... but for the rest of us, there's nothing persuasive. Had he been acquitted, there would have been cynical black people maintaining that the white guy always gets let off.
The jury might have actually thought he was guilty.

If you were a jury member, and you were worried about deciding the verdict in a trial being conducted behind barbed wire and a barricaded court room, and there was a loud daily BLM mob outside, protesting - with a year-long track record of nationwide protesting, rioting, looting, burning - who would you turn to, if you were looking for some assurance of your safety, and the safety of your family?
