We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Yes, the downtrodden pigs, the exploited horses, and the victimized sheep finally did expel Farmer Jones from America’s Animal Farm.
But in his place, as Orwell predicted, revolutionary pigs began walking on two feet and absorbed all the levers of American cultural influence and power: the media, the bureaucracies, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, publishing, the academy, K-12 education, professional sports, and entertainment. And to them all, the revolutionaries added their past coarseness and 1960s-era by-any-means-necessary absolutism.
We are now finally witnessing the logical fruition of their radical utopia: Censorship, electronic surveillance, internal spying, monopolies, cartels, conspiracy theories, weaponization of the intelligence agencies, pouring billions of dollars into campaigns, changing voting laws by fiat, a woke revolutionary military, book banning, bleeding the First Amendment, canceling careers, blacklisting, separate-but-equal racial segregation and separatism.
Conspiracies? Now they brag of them in Time. Read their hubristic confessionals in “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election.” Once upon a Time, radicals used to talk of a “secret history” in terms of the Pentagon Papers, or a “shadow campaign” in detailing Hollywood blacklisting. They are exactly what they once despised, with one key qualifier: Sixties crudity and venom are central to their metamorphosis.
Our left-wing American revolutionary cycle from the barricades to the boardroom was pretty quick—in the manner that the ideology of the Battleship Potemkin soon led to Stalin’s show trials, or Mao’s “long march” logically resulted in the Cultural Revolution. The credo, again, is that the noble ends of forced “equity” require any means necessary to achieve them...
It is comical, it is farcical, it is sad and foolish. But, most of all it is dangerous. The left is playing with fire. The Democrats have been taken over by communists. Even those Democrat congressmen and women who would not embrace communism have no choice but to march lockstep with their party. That is what their party demands and they must do it or else. The only exception to that is for congress people running for election in a purple district who must give the appearance of independence from the party leaders so that they can get reelected. But once the election is over they see the light and vote a straight party line.
This was not so bad in the 60's and 70's when they worse they were doing was killing 55,000 of our best and brightest young men in Vietnam. But now they are embarking on something far more dangerous; destroying America so that they can remake America into the next Venezuela. They cannot do that with a viable middle class so the middle class must be destroyed. Trump was a speed bump but now that he is gone it is full steam ahead. But... Trump was also a wake up call and the more they went after Trump and his people and those who voted for him the more awake the American middle class became. Stealing the election so openly and in our face was the last straw. Some 75,000,000 people want an audit and to find and prosecute those who were in on the steal. The left cannot accept that because they all have dirty hands. That is why the diversion of the riot (planned and facilitated by the left) and the non-impeachment impeachment.
But the left is in la la land if they think that conservatives will just fade away. We know they are lying to us. They know that we know they are lying to us. They are doing it anyway and trying to punish anyone who dare call out their lies. We are not going away and we aren't going to accept their lies and disrespect. This is why they have a fence around the capitol and national guard protecting them. Because they intend to do things that they know we don't want them to do and they need to hide from us. This won't end well, I see no way out. They won't back down they want power and they are drunk on their power. Besides even if they did realize how dangerous the situation is getting they wouldn't back down and it's too late to apologize anyway. They have committed treason; a coup and stolen the presidency and god only knows how many seats in congress they stole. It's too late to apologize and they cannot hide behind the fence forever. Sooner or later they must go home and face their constituency.
The latter link is a panel discussion with the writer and producer of Mr. Jones by Anne Applebaum. They make excellent points for the right, and don't even realize it.
The Switchel Philosopher
The Pigs' first act was to sell Old Boxer the workhorse to the glue factory. Biden's first act was to sell out thousands of union construction and trade workers. It's like they're working from the same script.
