Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The sorts of Christmas gifts which won't work this year, etc.


 Gifts that don't work this year, at least in most of the USA:


- a fancy dinner out with a pleasant atmosphere
- opera, dance, or movie tickets
- a trip to Europe


And some things that do work


- a kayak
-  a set of exercise bands
- trinkets, baubles, gadgets, sweaters, scarves (but who needs more of those? Nobody.)
- a jar of Italian truffles (yum)
- books, always
- A Maserati SUV for a spouse. 580 HP ought to be enough fun for him or her. Too flashy? Who cares?

A few years ago, I made a tiny magic box for my wife. It was filled with kisses and love and never ran out no matter how much was removed.

My dad gave my mom a new axe handle for her axe so she could finish cutting the firewood before dark--he thought it would help her get supper ready on time. It did not go over well. Don't get your wife one.

My wife does love the leaf blower she got her birthday, though.
