Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Scott Adam's daily podcasts


Bird Dog turned me on to the Dilbert creator's daily podcasts. Now, I am addicted. Nobody on TV is as smart as him, he cuts to the core while being friendly, non-partisan, and with a rare degree of clarity. There is no way not to like the guy.


He has been in some pain this week as his 18 year-old stepson died of a drug overdose last week. Still, he carries on. 


He admires Trump not because he likes him at all, but he enjoys persuasiveness and effectiveness. I enjoyed his argument this week that all registered Democrats should throw away their guns.

I agree with a similar tip of the hat to the Bird Dog. I would advise you to click through on the Dilbert page link to the Periscope page sine he is using more and more visual material.

I was a big fan of his postings but I can't make myself watch a podcast. The info comes too slow and I can't skim read to get the cliff notes and move on to my other favorite sites...like yours.

Same here, can't stand to listen to a podcast. I'd happily read every day if he'd post transcripts.

Podcasts are great for the car or taking a walk. Maybe for working around the house. Sitting at the computer or at a desk, not so much.

I'm hooked. His talent for analysis is excellent. I was reading his blog before the election (he predicted a Trump win) and can see why he switched to doing periscopes because he likes to engage with people. Since I cut cable about five years ago I missed having a morning show to watch and Adams has been a great replacement.
