Arthur Laffer wrote the Republican tax policy on a cloth napkin in D.C. restaurant on September 13, 1974. It read, "If you tax a product less results/ If you subsidize a product more results./ We've been taxing work, output and income and subsidizing non-work, leisure and unemployment./ The consequences are obvious!" with an image of the Laffer Curve in the middle."

San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle have huge homeless problems. Even after spending billions to fix the problem. The local governments have decided to increase spending on the homeless problem to "fix" it.

Laffer is not describing "Republican" tax policy. It is tax fact based on human nature. That some Republicans and a few Democrats act accordingly means they are simply acknowledging reality.

The opposing tax theory suffers from this fatal flaw: It assumes that people will produce equally regardless of how much of the product of their own labor they will be permitted to keep, particularly when they are disillusioned about the uses to which their confiscated wealth will be put.

Quite so, but experience indicates that some government is necessary for modern economies to function, and that requires some taxes and some regulation.
