Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Musing on Phoenix

I'd say this sums up many of the problems we face as a nation today. The 'offense' felt by some is a construct based on apprehension and fear. Some claim our president sows this apprehension and fear.  What he doesn't do is coddle people.  While he is outrageous and lies quite a bit, I've heard every president engage false commentary (many of which have gone overlooked or many people shrugged about, particularly with Trump's predecessor).  People claim Trump 'blames the press' for all his problems.  He might, though certainly the press does quite a bit to earn that blame.  On the other hand, few questioned Obama's 'blame Bush' approach to all his problems.


I'm no fan of Trump.  I didn't vote for him (or Hillary).  He does engage some policies which I consider outrageous and uninformed.  So did Obama.  What I do know is, despite the news suggesting Trump is the great evil we face today, that evil really lurks in the hearts of those who hate, on every side.

I am down with that. I have been accused of lacking in hatred and anger. Well, ok, I am what I am. There is a lot of hate out there, but the question, if anybody cares (they do not) is what drives it.

Just assume we're all assholes, and it makes sense. I listen to Dylan and Bach, and read the Bible. I'm cool with it all. And, honestly, Trump just amuses me. And he has a hot wife.

I don't mind anger per se. I just resent people being paid to fake anger.

I am sympathetic to those who are dismayed by DJT, but not to those who get their panties in a wad over his election. I am amused by the notion that there is a Trump cult, or that Trump voters were duped, or that 62 +M voters are evil, stupid....yada,yada.
What is telling, is that the TDS sufferers can't honestly come to grips with why they did not prevail and continue to ratchet up the insults to Middle America. I know hectoring, lecturing, demeaning, scolding are part of the human condition but what a turn off. Some folks seem to live for ankle biting.
I cannot believe they think that regular folks roll over for silly stereotypes, bizarre dichotomies, crazy caricatures, weasel words, baiting public figures, conflating reality with idle speculation.
To be clear this applies to both fringes.

A VERY LOOSE analogy: When Jesus entered the Temple to roust out the moneychangers, he didn't do it with a meek "please" and fear that he was offending the wrong crowd. He didn't beg for support, only to turn his back on his supporters, taking a few shekels on the side from the money changers; he stormed in and overturned the tables!!!

Trump's approach is very similar, as is the response of his foes. More than half the fun of watching Trump, is watching the Swamp creatures (all of whom have back-stabbed the American people) scramble to gather up their own spilled shekels from the chaos of overturned tables.!
