Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Laura Kipnis is a true victim

Another victim of the neo-Marxist brownshirts: When students objected to Laura Kipnis’s essay criticising the politics surrounding relationships between undergraduates and faculty, she was pitched into a Kafka-esque netherworld that threatened her career:



 On-campus attitudes to sex are, by Kipnis’s account, growing ever more sharply contradictory. As in the wider world, sexuality is often on public display. But people are also ready to be offended, and students ready to sue: hence the cautionary “dear colleague” emails. And into this mess has stepped officialdom, in the form of Title IX, whose guidelines are at once so vague and so all-encompassing that Kipnis could be accused of “creating a hostile environment on campus” simply for having written an essay.



People need to be heroes and to stand up to the PC terrorists. It must be frightening, though, if you need your job.

DH--best in his field. Most respectful and considerate of men--unemployed for 18 years because I refused to let him work for a school that allowed 50 year old women to dance naked in class for the MBA in organization management !

I have taught a community college for 20 years. Love my job. But I know there are certain leftist positions that I can't criticize if I want to keep my job. I never support those positions in what I say or do in class. I just avoid them.

I know that if I was more heroic, I would challenge them openly. I want that, but the time isn't right.

The good news is that the tide is turning. I don't see how anyone could look at the current culture and think that the left is the way to go. When the March for Life happened, none of the speakers wore genitalia on their heads or cursed any of the former presidents. There was no litter or rioting. When the liberal women marched there was vile symbolism and language and calls for civil war.

Choose this day who you will serve. Wake up and look at the side you want to fight for. Choose well.
