We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
One other important fact about Sweden is that with a very small population they have become an exporting country. They are doing well because they have large importing countries who will buy their products and their labor. If nothing about the way Sweden runs the country and conducts their business were to change AND the U.S. stopped buying their products and labor Sweden would go bankrupt. The point isn't that Sweden is doing something wrong the point is they are a small country taking advantage of a big market and that same plan won't work for us.
Imagine how both Sweden's and our own countries economic success would change if we insisted that half of the cruise ships be made in U.S. shipyards. Why not? Half or more of the passengers on these ships are Americans. Where are all the ship building jobs?
