We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
We can't fix America until we can accurately define what is wrong. It may be tough to face up to but the truth is the truth. Someone once said we need to have a conversation about our cultures issues and that has to be an honest conversation. You have to wonder about those who don't want either a conversation or honesty.
Your meek response rather illustrates why Trump is routing the New England Rockefeller Republicans. There's a culture war on. The left is winning because it shows up for each battle with cannons blazing. In response, Rockefeller Republicans toss marshmallows.
I'm know you mean well, but here's a news flash: the modern left is not interested in facts, data, or high-minded discussions about allowing people to discover the truth by considering all sides of an issue. The modern left is only interested in molding a narrative and using the narrative to gain political power. Discussion of facts and/or data that might contradict the narrative is verboten.
BTW, I took my daughter to see Charles Murray at the University of Colorado two years ago. The audience was by and large polite and respectful. I doubt he would get the same treatment today.
I'm grateful I could attend a university in an era when the professors didn't have to be afraid to provide us with startling or uncomfortable information.
