We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Guns and bombs

Gopnick makes the case that "we're all to blame" for the San Bernardino massacre. I am so tired of these sorts of arguments.


Naturally, he blames the guns. I know that Bird Dog and his friends had good fun with firearms this weekend, and not one of their firearms went postal. Also, Gopnick neglected to mention that they had bombs too. Everything they did and had was illegal and had evil intent.


How do you make something more illegal?  San Bernardino Islamic Terrorists Set Up Bombs to Explode on First Responders

I still can't get over the lengths to which some people will go to shift the blame for violence and death from those who perpetrate it to someone with whom they disagree.

How do you make something more illegal? By confiscating it from people who own it legally and by passing laws against it's manufacture or import.

I'll start taking the Gopnick-type arguments seriously when they start taking responsibility for everyone who dies defenseless when they could have been carrying a weapon for personal defense.

I'm reminded that Australia came down hard on weapons with significant success in lowering the kill rate. Also, it's Gopnik - no "c" there. Best get the details right if you want to make a legit case, hmm?
