We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
From its inception, progressivism has posed a threat to constitutional government. It has sought to replace limited and decentralized governance with dynamic, centralized authority in order to force some arrangement of equality on the nation. Because the world has a way of upsetting abstract designs, progressivism depends on empowering administrators to impose its frameworks while disempowering citizens from resisting these coercions. The Obama administration’s push for unilateral presidential authority to disregard the law is thus the logical extension of the progressive program. Opposition to this program requires nothing less than a rededication to our Founding ideals: our nation must be governed by the rule of law, not the rule of an elected monarch or of a legally privileged aristocracy.
I don't think they are more deceptive. I think the are more hypocritical.
Both sides are deceptive to equal degrees. How you react to that deception depends on 2 things:
1. how closely allied to either party you choose to be
2. how far up the deceptive individual is, since we tend to focus more on the deceptions of Cabinet level and above than on House members.
But they are equally deceptive. The only difference I see is in hypocrisy. Progressives are all about making things more "fair" or "equal" while accumulating more of everything for themselves personally.
Republicans make no bones about accumulating power or 'stuff', but usually are OK with others doing so until it infringes on their turf, then they'll chop you off at your knees or assimilate you.
Bulldog, you make a good case and I tend to agree. Truth is, I am not a Republican. I cannot stand either party as they are all liars. Deception is a lie but a more subtle one than comes out of Barry's mouth. I cannot stand his smooth condescension. I don't feel like I am living in a "post-racial" America. I feel as though the pot has been thoroughly stirred.
Sometimes you have to choose between the devil and the witch.
I don't think the lefties are hypocrites. You have to have morals to be hypocritical. They tell you what they are and what they want even if it is some really strange stuff--LBGTXYXFAGUPYOURASS comes to mind. WTF?
