Maggie's Farm

It is my contention that roughly 85% of the population are genetically peasants. They are most happy when tomorrow is exactly like today, only with the weather a touch better and maybe a bit more sausage in the biscuts and gravy. They are perfectly happy to spend their 7.5 hours of work staring at the south end of whatever north bound cow gets them their paycheck, and they want nothing more to go home and watch Seinfeld or WWE on the TV.

They want the freedom to do what they want, and they don't want the consequences to fall too heavily on them. They are perfectly fine having other peoples liberty restricted because of whatever.

About 5% percent (or less) are genetically "masters". They have some traits that tend to get peasants to listen to them. These traits are not always intelligence, so-called common sense, or anything useful. It's generally pheromones, chrisma, good hair and a strong chin, or complete and utter psychopathy. It's their job to stop freedom and to get the peasants yoked whatever ox they're supposed to stare at.

I think it's clear what these people think of Freedom or Liberty.

Then you have the 5% who are misfits. High functioning autistitcs, aspergers types--the geeks-n-freaks the guys who ask what and why. The dreamers and doers who make tomorrow worse and better than today. They need freedom to be who they are. They often still want to restrict others freedom in some way, but they're generally smart enough to push this to the edges (for example, they may "accept" marajuana legaization, but argue against the "hard stuff". There's a small number of us who really do think that all men should be *free*. Mostly because we know that most of them will end up dying in a ditch because they can't handle freedom, and frankly they deserve that ditch because most of them are pathetic, narrow minded and short sighted.

Everyone deserves to go to their own hell their own way.
