I particularly liked the Ascension Island story. Many eco-terrorists focus on the 'damage' humans do to their environment, and claim human intervention is always and everywhere dangerous and deadly.

I also happen to agree with the story about trade. It's surprising to me, after all these years and so many mercantilist failures, that mercantilism is still preached.

Of course failed economic theories are preached, and heavily. If only sound theories were promulgated, too many people would have to get real jobs and live in relative obscurity.

My Dad had a running battle with a scientific magazine in his field over the term "Alien Species" and their position that alien species should be exterminated from the USof A. My dad was fond of pointing out to the scientific editors that most Ag crops and animals in the US were "alien" including wheat and horses. Ultimately they changed their terminology to unwanted introduced species.

I don't have the answer to your question, poised adroitly above and I thank you for it, as to why humans focus on the trivial.

Thanks for posting Bulldog. Very interesting.

The blurb on porn surprised me. The anti-porn crusaders have told us forever that porn leads to an increase in sexual assault, and that is the primary reason for getting rid of it.
