We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Amusing, and heart-warming, to see how this gal who gamed the college diversity scam got in touch with her true inner racial identity, and was able to build a career on it.
Knew a girl in high school who had auburn hair and freckles. She got into an Ivy League school by claiming she was 'hispanic.' Her name was not hispanic, but apparently one of her grandmothers was hispanic.
I always thought that was such a scam. She didn't speak Spanish...in fact, she took French in high school. Who was going to check that her grandmother was actually hispanic? And when does the claiming of race end? How far down the generations will this go???
Just as far as needed, and I expect they'll take one's word for it. Be wise to have that ancestor identified and the name ready to be presented, if you look white...
This is from the 1970s. A family friend whose parents were both professionals applied to an Ivy league school. He was born in Puerto Rico, because his father had a professional position in Puerto Rico at the time. When the Ivy League school found out he was born in Puerto Rico- the surnames of his parents were not from the Spanish language- he was offered admission to the engineering school - even though he didn't want to become an engineer.

My Oklahoma and California relatives with Indian ancestry- as opposed to Elizabeth Warren's faux Indian ancestry- never got a penny of government money nor any Affirmative Action bennies from their Indian ancestry.
They did quite well in their lives without any Affirmative Action, I might add.
