Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Swarthmore’s descent into madness


These kids could use a little education.


If they hate fossil fuel, they should first set an example by giving up their cars, computers, cell phones, heat, and air conditioning. Nobody is stopping them from wearing pinwheels on their heads for wind power.

Dear Barrister:

Please do consider this reality: the legal staff(not the lawyers) in any city--the secretaries, the office managers, legal assistants, etc. These women do keep lists! You know it--most attorneys know it, but refuse to acknowledge it because it would mean they have to acknowledge the fact that they are not in control of their own office/business/profession. Much like the power of nurses over doctors! In many cities these networks of female legal workers have organized and they do keep lists. Lists which they use to procure their own idealized goals/agendas for the "women's cause". Lists they use to prevent women in opposition to their ideals from obtaining strong legal representation.

I don't know whether to blame the parents, the students or the administration. Some, maybe all, deserves a swift kick.
