Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

A horrible idea


The Feds are always eager to stick their hands into places where they do not belong. I disagree with Mead that the intentions are good, but I agree that it's a nutty idea. For one thing, college is not job training. For another, the data would be meaningless.


By the way, what is Rubio's name doing on this idea?

Most government ideas are bad ideas, subject to politics, bad management, bad adminitstration,... The list goes on. And on. And on...

no, No, NO, NO, NO! "public schools began to game the system after No Child Left Behind was Passed" NO NO NO.

No child left behind was an attempt to stop the schools from gaming the system. MF should not accept all things that "Inside Higher Ed" publishes! No Child Left Behind was a very sincere attempt by the Bush group to clean up a mess that had been in place for years! The fact that No Child Left Behind has been so disfigured by the media is an intentional design by the "women's leadership of Seattle/Olympia WA" on behalf of the NEA and AFL/CIO teacher's unions. If you search carefully through the two (at that time) local papers you can see in the local papers how these women began to first ask questions, then create arguments against, and then report those arguments as fact! Search in Seattle Times and the now defunct Seattle PI for stories concerning this bill way back in 2001 (prior to 9/11 I believe). The resistance, the slander, and the defamation of the "intention" of this bill began in WA State.

I'm not going to report my income to my undergrad college (whose total effect on my income was a checked box on the law school application) or law school (checked box for a license). bleep those bleeps, its none of their business. I'll report income as Zero.

Rubio either doesn't have very good political instincts or his true political positions are leaking out. Either way it disqualifies him as a conservative leader in my book. Better now then be surprised later.

Looks like Cruz is the leading candidate to be the conservate leader at least until there's a reason why he should not be.
