Dear American Friends,

As a Brit who is a patriot and economically aware, I implore you to consider this point most seriously.

There are prior examples of this type of man-made disaster from the UK.

Starting in the 1940s, much of British industry was nationalised. (Add your own "Zed" as required.) Everything that was nationalised degenerated into mediocrity.

Look at the British car industry. It is now a series of high-class international brands under good management and foreign control but just imagine what it could have been if it hadn't gone through the phase of nationalisation, followed by privatisation to non-controling shareholders.

Look at other countries - there are plenty of examples of how not to do it. Don't copy them!
