We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Con Law

Taranto: The Man Who Knew Too Little - President Obama's stunning ignorance of constitutional law.


Well ok. You might expect a Con Law teacher to remember the date of Lochner but, giving Obama the benefit of the doubt, I think he is simply spewing spin and propaganda, hoping most voters won't notice.


How many voters care about Lochner? Or even about the Constitution? Even the President, who did swear to uphold it, admits he doesn't really approve of it.


Perhaps his back-up plan is to run against the Court - and the Constitution. It could work. Politics ain't beanbag.

He is counting on the ignorance of his audience to absorb and regurgitate his talking points. The scary part is that he may pull off the con.

We're in the age of the low information voter. (duh) So will it boil down to "Who will give me more free stuff?", or will the question be "Which candidate likes women and children?" In either case, or any others you may wish to concoct, the MSM can easily manipulate the LIVs.

It's easy to 'blow smoke' on constitutional issues. I don't know whether that's due to voter ignorance or apathy or a combination of the two.

The politicians are certainly apathetic about the Constitution. For example, here's a bit about GWB's opinion of McCain-Feingold (Campaign Finance Reform):

Some days I think I wasted my time making my kids attend our at-home read & review the Constitution sessions.
