Apparently, the record high temperatures and wonderful weather we're having in most of the United States is just a 'good to have' moment. That is, if you're tired of winter and enjoy spring, a state of mind I'm currently in. The issue isn't 'Global Warming', though I'm sure this is something we'll hear about (because the Huffington Post and Daily Kos won't let us forget). The issue is simply the Jet Stream, which is following an odd path at the moment.

The freak October snowstorm, which caused many problems in the Northeast, didn't mean a long, difficult winter was approaching, so there is no reason to believe we are in for a hot summer.

Apparently, even though Al Gore and many others have assured us there is a guarantee of warming, there are none on offer:

"There's a tilt in the odds toward a warmer summer for the southern two-thirds of the country, but it's not a guarantee," Halpert told OurAmazingPlanet. "We don't give guarantees in the climate business."

My first time seeing the new masthead. As someone who has become a bit of a transcontinental railroad junkie (hey, we can't spend all our time on the civil war) the picture represents, to me, the one thing above all others that made America the greatest country in the world in the second half of the 1800's.

Some jokes are funny only once. Most of them. Some are always funny, like driving away and leaving the guy who opened the barbwire gate for the truck while hunting in the best place in the universe. That would be the points within ten miles of the Montana/Saskatchewan/Alberta borders.

Where was I? Oh, yeah, 'always funny' jokes - God, weather - har!

I'd say the jetstream is following 'a' path at the moment, pretty much as it always does.
Not sure why it's an 'odd' one, just a bit diiferent to the one you believe it should take. Which, to the jetstream, makes not a blind bit of difference.

Portland OR just had they first March snow I can remember in 20 years. Everyone else complaining about 80 degrees and I can't mow my yard dammit.

I love the looks I get when I remind people that we are in an ice age now and that normally there is no ice at the poles. I only use that one on the sheep who follow anything, even my words occasionally, not the true believers. Those folks just change the subject to climate change and Republicans vs the Environment.
