We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Man knoweth not his own end: but as fishes are taken with the hook, and as birds are caught with the snare, so men are taken in the evil time, when it shall suddenly come upon them. Ecclesiastes 9:11-12.
Please reconsider Lipitor and all statin drugs. They are potentially harmful and, as the Lipitor commercial itself says in fine print, there is no evidence that Lipitor prevents or treats coronary artery disease.
Everyone needs to think critically about the lipid hypothesis of obesity and heart disease. It's full of holes. Cholesterol and animal fat are not villains.
Good Calories Bad Calories by Gary Taubes, and The Cholesterol Myths by Uffe Ravnskov are good starts
