Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

If you listen to the Lefty pundits, you'd think he was a battlefield hero now. Right decision for sure, but also a no-brainer if there ever was one. "Let's send some guys to kill Bin Laden, OK?" "Well, let me sleep golf on that for a few days..."

I spent some time over the past few days rereading past presidential speeches made immediately after similar events including Reagan, FDR, even Carter (I even threw in some WWII Eisenhower speeches including the one if D-Day failed). These speeches are all more alike than dissimilar. Obama stands alone for how important he is in the process and how unimportant the actual actors are.

Comparing the Obama speech to the "situation room" (actually just a small conference room in the White House West Wing) photo leads me to note that the small pale man sitting off to the corner is the same man who in speech after speech makes himself the center of action and attention. His incompetence in action demands compensation. The small man behind the big desk is a recipe for trouble.

We have elected the weak horse and must live with it for now. No need to reinvest in this old nag, however.

This was not an assassination. This was a military strike against a command-and-control target in a time of war. OBL was as legitimate a target as an infantryman charging across a battlefield.

It is true that Congress never formally declared war, but it was war just the same. OBL most certainly declared war on us, and our president (at the time) said that we were going after anyone who practiced his style of warfare.

He isn't as magnificent as he and others believe. He's charismatic and little else.

VDH's quoted paragraph from Obama above is a defining picture of a malignant narcissist. It demonstrates his abiding inability to think of anything but himself, his needs, his plans, his future. The heroism of the Navy SEALs who actually did the deed is supremely unimportant to him. And once you figure out who he truly is, you most likely will never believe him again.

Every sentence in the quote which starts with an 'I' is a lie. Let's hope enough folks will figure this out before November 2012.
