We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
From an interview with an attendee at the Sanity Rally in DC yesterday:
"Socialism is cool, dude. Look at France, everything is free. Free doctors, great unemployment benefits, free housing, great food. You can retire early. It works, man. The government pays, and the people have the good life."
There are people in this world with no moxie, no grit. Very sad, for them. They want me to be their "brother's keeper," but I am not this guy's brother. I have my own brothers.
Furthermore, the fratricidal Cain's "brother's keeper" rebuke to God was a complex and subtle statement.
I would vote for incredibly naive. These dudes aren't too strong in the facts department. Too bad the interviewer didn't ask dude about the demonstrations et al in France against raising the retirement age to 62. Odds are the interviewer didn't have a clue, either.
"The government pays.... until the money runs out."
Amazing he found his way to DC. Maybe his mom bought the ticket.

Anyone who gets their news from John Stewart WOULD believe this.
It's no surprise people voted in Obama.
A) it's "cool" to have a black president
B) everything is "free" in Socialism
C) Stewart assures us that working for a living is obsolete, all you need is a sense of humor
it pleases me to no end that quebec (that's north of the 49th) has recently launched a "freedom network." in a jurisdiction that is currently dominated by socialists and driven by marxist la-dee-dah; there is reason to believe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
there is hope for quebec. my point is that these "issues" are everwhere in one degree or another and that the efforts made by the contributors down on the farm are greatly appreciated.
comme ils disent: courage, mon amour!
as they say - chin up.
