We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Milton Friedman has been, still is, the most remarkable communicator of basic guns vs. butter economics that the post-WWII educators have produced. I was fortunate enough to see his presentations while enrolled at a university that preached Keynes. Got some Ds in my blue books because I didn't spout back the stance of my professors and kept repeating Friedman's position, which was so elegant, so simple., so joyful in that a 5-year-old who runs a lemonade stand can get it.
When government sticks its finger in the cog of the wheel of innovation, the wheel stops turning.
