We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

A Pomo Dilemma

There is no truth, so what about "Climate Change"?


In Critical Land, it is difficult to make any case based on data - I mean "data." If you claim that all facts are political, how can you argue anything on facts?


And WTF is "science studies"? Is that like Rocks for Jocks? Learning "about something" instead of learning the thing itself?


Learning "about things" isn't education. It's Edutainment. Same way the MSM news is Propatainment.

Actual science is marked by curiosity.

Big science is marked by concern about boundaries.

The latter is vulnerable to a pomo attack.

The former is the one that's science without quote marks.

You know if the title contains the word studies that it is bogus and devoid of real science.

Yep, I'd be worried about global warming, but then I remembered that "science" is just a white male fabrication invented to advance the interest of the racist capitalist patriarchy. Ergo global warming talk based on "science" is a reactionary right wing plot and I reject it.

Probably not a popular viewpoint, but science is never "settled" if it is true science. The scientist who states without qualification that "this is true and that is false" is only stating a personal or political opinion. The only certainty in science are numbers and even they can lie depending on how they are presented.

Anyone with any knowledge of science and history would know that "consensus" is a scientific practical joke.

Global warming is a stone cold hard fact. The earths climate has been very, very slowly warming since the last Ice Age. It will continue to do so until we start cooling as we start to move toward the next Ice Age. It has worked like that for between 1 and 1.5 million years and all the screwball plans that the shysters like Gore and the UN want to try with the help of all our lame brained politicians will not change it. I learned that in grade 8 science in 1952 and as far as I can discover and I have searched even Al Gore and the UN can not change that fact. Oh by the way according to the timing of the cycles we are very close to going into the next Ice Age. It might start cooling tomorrow or it might start in 500 to 1000 years we don`t know and if we did we could do nothing to change it.
