Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Ghettos, Zoos, or what?

From Smith's The Ghetto-ification of America at Pajamas:



What big government has done to the nation’s inner cities and poor blacks is nothing short of a moral crime. Unless the Democrats are stopped, a lesser though damaging crime will be committed against every other community. Ghetto-light may be your neighborhood all too soon.



It is reminiscent of Dalrymple's observations in the UK which I linked a week or so ago.

Liberals believe that doing good with other peoples money demonstrates their moral superiority. Actually doing good with other peoples money is evil.

Remember LBJ's war on poverty? The liberals spent billions of dollars of other people money to end poverty and the blacks ended up worse off. They created an economic class whose only job was welfare recipient.

Excellent article with very good points. Yep Ray, I do recall LBJ's war on poverty, and you are correct. Was that called "The Great Society?" Memory seems to escape me at times.
