Here's the trick that is coming:

...the Obama administration is expected as early as Monday to formally declare carbon dioxide a dangerous pollutant.

An "endangerment" finding by the Environmental Protection Agency could pave the way for the government to require businesses that emit carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases to make costly changes in machinery to reduce emissions -- even if Congress doesn't pass pending climate-change legislation. EPA action to regulate emissions could affect the U.S. economy more directly, and more quickly, than any global deal inked in the Danish capital, where no binding agreement is expected.

Great. So Zero puts on a dog and pony billed as a jobs summit then turns around and hits businesses with this nonsense. Now he'll wonder why the economy tanks even more and unemployment rises.

One may hope that a group with legal standing will sue to prove that the finding is factually in error.
The previous history of "endangerment" referred to toxicity. CO2 is toxic at levels a whole lot higher than humans can conceivably produce. Congress could (but the 119th won't) legislate this authority away from the EPA, or a utility could sue to force a finding of fact.

One more nail in the coffin....of the USA. Our rulers are certainly in a hurry, and very successful, in destroying and remaking this country.

From my recollection of physics ... the impediment to radiant transfer of energy ( ie "greenhouse gases ) is due to " tri-atom" gases : CO2 , H2O , etc ...but are relatively unaffected by " di- atom" gases , O2 , N2 ...which are the major constituents in the atmosphere through which radiant
sails with the greatest of ease .

Hence why all the focus on CO2 ? As it amounts to about
1/ 27 of the amount of H2O ( water vapor ) at 50 % relative humidity ?
What next ?

Will EPA , UN , Obama move to legislate the reduction of water vapor in the air ... afterall it is THE dominant greenhouse gas . Can we turn the muggy South into a desert to help save the planet from absolute destruction ? Why fiddle around with CO2 when the really bad guy is everyday , nasty water ?

Perhaps there was some hidden , prophetic wisdom in the college adage to " Drink beer , not water " . Oh well .

Of course our savior technology, the hydrogen fuel cell, is ever so clean because it produces -- water vapor, the most effective greenhouse element in the entire atmosphere.
We keep coming back to thinking that the real agenda is to reduce everyone's lifestyle. I enjoy mine and would dislike having it curtailed by these clucks; the seriously poor will be ground, some unto death, by their policies. So let's hope the world's governments stop them.
BTW, I saw that India has pledged to reduce "greenhouse intensity", i.e. the amount of greenhouse production per unit of GDP. That's great news: it means they plan to be more efficient, which is a good thing. But CO2 production will remain high. And it doesn't matter anyway.

Geoff ... "CO2 doesn't matter anyway." Oh yes it does. It's an essential fertilizer for all green plants, from wheat, to ferns, to grass, to redwood trees. Without it, we'd be living in a sandbox. But I agree on one point. It has very little to do with global warming. I curse the day when Al Gore went down in his basement to sulk after losing his chance at the Presidency. That's when this particular outrageous example of junk science began.

And if he wants to control CO2, he should stop breathing, nasty big CO2 generator that he is.

Howdy Marianne
You're right that enriching CO2 is good for plants -- I was referring only to the warming crud.
I'm appalled to say this, but possibly we'd have been better off if Al Gore had been elected president and had had to deal with the war on jihad. It might have gotten his mind off of this crud. But with Dr. Jim and Dr. Mike as Al's friends, maybe we'd have surrendered earlier on AGW AND we'd have had a dozen 9/11's under Al's wise leadership.

From what I am reading, the EPA has painted a bull's eye on electric power generators. So if the EPA demands they cut CO2 emissions 25%, I would like to see the utility bosses just shut down their power plants for the last three months of a given year in order to meet their target. It will never happen but it would definitely get people's attention.

You guys need glasses. The president just said we all are dangerous polluters. All of us, toxic, dangerous, emissions spewing entities in need of "regulation".

Soylent Green is here. They just screwed the UN and the poor countries at the Copenchangin summit. Maybe those folks are "useless emitters" too?
