Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

No work? No hope?

Get a darn U-Haul and get out of your crappy old town before winter sets in. Go somewhere where there are plenty of jobs, vitality, enthusiasm, and low taxes. Like Texas or Alabama or Georgia or New Mexico or New York City. It's the American way; the pioneer way. Plenty of jobs in the Dakotas too, if you have a warm coat.

Boeing is moving a production line of the new 787 Dreamliner to SC where I live. We are a right to work state and we will benefit from around 4K jobs that this line will bring... The Boeing machinists union's loss is our gain. Love it when individuals and companies vote with their feet.

Couldn't agree more with your comments...Get out of your depressed area and go to greener pastures. Be thankful that this country still has lots of green pastures to go to...I spent time in the Phillippines with the Marines. Locals would pick bomb fragments out of bombing ranges to make implements that were then sold in local markets or back to American servicemen...Knives, machetes etc. They didn't have a choice for their were virtually no jobs, industry etc...Americans have virtually unlimited opportunity by comparison...

Surely, yall jest.

I've been reaquainted with this damn yankee bastion of stagnation for over a year now and when asking the poor souls trapped here what they find so laudable about New Mexico, only one answer has yet been uttered, the weather.

The people here know this place sucks.
