Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

"The hubris is staggering."

Mona Charen on Obama's Self-Worship.


It actually worries me a little. I am not saying this to pick on the guy. I just worry that he bought into the messianic hype because he has not been through much in life. Mark Steyn observed on the radio yesterday that he was the first President who acted like the job was too small for him.


Thus far, I am neither impressed by the O's fund of knowledge, nor his wisdom, nor his experience. I am impressed by his smooth, lawyerly glibness and his apparent supreme self-confidence at times - but these are not the things I admire in people.

I was not around for FDR but I bet he was a close second.

I'm not impressed with Obama, either what he has done already or what he is threatening to do. But I am impressed with Ms. Charen's column and his staggering self-worship. She is right on the money. And we all should be afraid ... very afraid. He can do an immense amount of damage between today and the end of his first, and I pray only, term.

What I can't stand is being laughed at by many, many other nations because of our president. We've been scorned, mocked, criticized aplenty because of other presidents, but never laughed at.

Laughter annihilates fear. That is the scary part.

Hot Ghetto Messiah. People are catching on. Though he'll be able to rely on the terminally stupid and actively socialist through the rest of his term.
