Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Even attorneys like this site: Sick of Lawsuits. I view an important part of my job as to avoid lawsuits.


I like to make money, but I do not like to make dirty money.

My HOA initiated a lawsuit to recover damages from an incompetent contractor. Without the impending lawsuit, the contractor would never have refunded us a penny; we achieved a reasonable settlement before we got to court. At times lawsuits are necessary evils. Get a good attorney.

There are some businessmen who use lawsuits or the threat of lawsuits to make money. Sometimes they succeed. Sometimes they do not.

While I am one those without health insurance, and thus should be in favor of Obamacare, one thing that decided me against Obamacare was that it does nothing about tort reform. Recal Dr. Dean's reason why: the trial lawyers were such big contributors to the Democratic Party.
