We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I'm writing a post on this right now, but both NYT and LAT have omitted frontpage coverage of Pelosi's CIA lying allegations.
Sadly, in some ways we might be better off with no "newspaper any more ..."

Very good comment, Barrister. My Dad used to tell me when I was a rebellious teenager, "Never put anything in writing that you don't want to see in print." I would say that goes double for statements on the Internet or in email. And what one says on cordless telephones or cellphones, which are essentially broadcasts of what you're saying to a curious public.
One of the reasons I sign my comments with my own name is to remind myself of these daunting data, and the fact that twenty years from now, when I have gone to Another Place, my perhaps unfortunate words may live on. maybe to indict me for being foolish, short-sighted or just plain dumb.
ahh, ahem, I only went halfway there Marianne "JoeC" are my real initials....although my public email for blogs and such is still (jocrazy --leftover from my 70's service in uncle samuel's navy. long story).
And I thirds that "never put it in writing" due to the legal system.....all that writing physical media AND electronic) is subject to discovery in a lawsuit (though that 47MB I sent off to my lawyer will take the defendant a bit of time to 'discover'.) heh.
Good for you, JoeC >>> I may yet get in trouble for being so transparent on the 'Web, especially when I'm so darn opinionated. Nice that you were in the Navy. I have a special weakness for Navy men, although now that I'm 81, I'm very well-behaved about it. Do you ever read Neptunus Lex? It's a naval officer's blog. The blog site owner is a retired Navy aviator and he's very interesting and writes really well. And so are his commenters.
Maggies and Lex are my two favorite blogs. Both are extremely worthwhile.
