Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The drowning of the Maldives

There may or may not be a 1-3mm/yr sea-level rise ever since the last Ice Age, but the Maldives are holding up pretty well, contrary to alarmists. Watts Up. (I enjoyed the comments there too.) h/t, SDA


And yes, the Maldives have gone green - if you don't count the tourists jetting to their vacations.

One of the things that made this country work so well for 200 years was that the business of the country was business. Business provides jobs, jobs provide revenue, the two are what creates a tax base. Government creates none of that, it just takes, hopefully to provide infrastructure. If we are in fact witnessing the beginning of the end of our democracy history will trace it's roots to the point that a majority of America viewed business as the enemy as opposed to the heart that keeps a successful economy beating. For the life of me I will never understand the anti-business attitude of labor unions. Who the hell do they think pays them?
