We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Rush is having fun

His post begins:



It is on the record -- thanks to Politico.com -- since last fall, the White House, led by Rahm Emanuel, the chief of staff to Barack Obama, has been targeting me, your host, your harmless, lovable little fuzzball.  Their standard operating procedure: they need a demon to distract and divert from what their agenda is.  They need a demon about whom they can lie so as to persuade average Americans that they're the good guys, the benevolent good guys, and the mean SOBs are their enemies trying to stop this great young little president from doing miraculous and wonderful things. 



Read the whole thing, because in this Rush not only challenges Obama to a debate on the issues, but cruelly includes a photo of Rahm Emanuel at his ballet class.


Yes, it is all a distracting and undignified sideshow. Here's the important part: I don't understand, however, even tactically, why the WH and the Dems bother going on a daily attack mission when they have Congress and the WH. Wouldn't they rather appear strong, confident, and above it all rather than like pitbull pols? Why the mudslinging?


Maybe their polling is telling them something.

Just read their manual. I think it (Alinsky's) is avaiable at Amazon. Explains it pretty well.

It's all red herrings and not-so-clever distractions from what is really happening in congress and on Wall Street. The latter has displayed absolutely no confidence in the ability of the former (with it's spend, spend, spend mentality) to get the economy on a positive track.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Rush (whom I believe is correct in many of his statements) and a great deal to do with the cluelessness of those in power.

It's actually kind of funny. At least it would be if the guy wasn't President of the United States and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. Just think about the previous sentence for a moment. It's like the school principal getting into a spitball contest with the loudmouth, fat kid in 3rd grade. Actually he's now expanded the fight to include the Santelli and Cramer kids. An embarrassing spectacle for all concerned, but, most especially for the guy who pretends to be President of all the people.

They (the democrats) can't help it. Personal attacks are SOP. I don't claim this statement as empirical truth, but the only negative comment I ever heard or which was attributed to GWB was his aside to Cheney about the NYT reporter. The dems have a long way to go to match GWB's attitude.

Happened to hear this bychance today. As soon as I get a job I may subscribe to Rush simply as a show of support. Campaigns win elections; they do not run a nation.

Because they're very narcissistic and paranoid and they're really don't know how to govern and lead so they do what they know and learned from Chicago school of dirty politics...attack and defame relentlessly, rinse and repeat ad nausea.

My faith in the American polity has been dented but it can be restored if proven that most people elected Obama in good faith and throw the bums out in short order after this nasty performance.

No magnanimity in victory, petulance and arrogance, hypocrisy, breaking campaign promises, corruption and nasty partisan tactics including threatening former admin with prosecutions.

Good news is they are very transparent in their ambition and their incompetence in the economy, leadership and foreign affairs make the Repubs look pretty darn good in contrast. I just hope too many people don't get killed in the interim. This is about as bad as I feared it would be and is why I was a bit sick to my stomach in a way I've never been before dating back to Jimmi the Dhimmi during the inauguration.

Simple. No totalitarian party can leave any opponent standing, especially if the opponent has any kind of organizational ability, smarts, information distribution channels and a following. This makes perfect sense, tactically and strategically. One Lenin quote about opposition comes to mind: "We are ridding the country of all kinds of insects."
