We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Look out below

Obama's proposed cap and trade will cost business billions, for no purpose whatsoever. I think this is psychotic - unless the goal is to destroy American business. But then who will pay the taxes? (Meanwhile, scientist forces Al Gore to back down.)


I doubt that even Congress is this crazy.


Related: Obama proposes one trillion in new taxes. That's for "the rich," of course. Around here, that's a teacher married to a cop, or the guy who owns the dry-cleaner.

I have told myself that I'm not a litmus-test voter but I'm becoming one on AGW/Cap-n-Trade/Ruin-Economy. If a politician supports the AGW theory, I have to try to vote for someone else. Of course that was a problem last fall, since both Presidential candidates had embraced AGW.
We must hope (and message and vote) that Congress will stop this idiocy. Middle-class folks like me will be inconvenienced, lower-class folks will suffer, and the ones on the dole will get more money from taxes to help them with their increasing energy bills.

I have for years on various blogs, this one included, pointed out what was known in the 1950's as "creeping socialism".

I have named the members of Congress that belong to the Socialist Demicratic Party of America. Usually there was zero response.

I have pointed out the 10 Marixists principles need fulfillment to achievement of the "workers paradise". Usually zero response.

Well, welcome to an administration I warned was dedicated to Marxism. I told you so.

Cap and Trade is a guise for the sole purpose of imposing fees, collecting moneys in order to redistribute the country's wealth. The cost of which will simply be passed along to you and me.

Cap and trade is only the tip of the ice-berg, there are many
more slights of hand in the pipeline.

Robin Hood took the money stolen from the poor and gave it back to the poor.

Marx takes money from the smart, innovative, risk takers, who make money and provide jobs and redistributes it to the non productive population.

Huge difference. Let's not equate Robin Hood with Marx, it insults Robin Hood.

Now, onward to the mid terms to erode his power and ensure he is a "One and Done" President by 2012.

American has it's problems but we're still very keen on our freedoms. And this administration has our rights in their sights.

You can't believe Congress is that crazy?

This is their opportunity to control every aspect of your life. Everything you do somehow involves the use of energy, and this is how they will direct those activities. Every aspect of public and private behavior, social and economic behavior in some way is connected to energy, and Congress will make you pay for the privilege of doing anything and they will get to decide who does not have to pay.

Do you think they care, or even understand, the costs involved? Pelosi has never had a job. Obama's work experience is limited to using government money to extort private actors into doing the kinds of things that caused the financial crisis. Reid, Biden, Waxman and many others spent one or two years practicing law (which as any lawyer will tell you is not nearly enough time to be competent) before spending decades in Congress being completely insulated from the consequences of any economic decision.

Not this crazy? For Congress, this is perfectly rational. This is the dream of every politician and bureaucrat.

How far off is the day when we have exhalation meters attached to our mouths and anuses to tabulate what we owe the gov. for personal cap & trade taxes? All for a hoax.

The One and his minions forget that the taxes paid by corporations are 1) passed on to the customer 2) unable to be used to create jobs, develop new technologies, or expand the business. In the end, the real taxpayer is the everyday citizen.
