We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The ending here is a bit like the castle aargh skit of Monty Python fame. But if one follows the url at the end of the video to youtube, it can be picked up at the 25 minute mark, on to what I assume is the full 58 minutes.
So, I watched the whole thing (the url was to fora tv, not youtube, but it works). Now, I am just a hayseed, a commoner. Not an economist, financial expert, or monetary expert of any kind. There was precious little in the discussion in the way of actual solutions and steps to take, and what there was seemed to focus on global remedies...read IMF, G20, etc.
That seems off to me. I can barely manage my own household's economy. My state is falling apart financially, and can't manage their economy. The United States as a whole obviously is going to have huge trouble in righting the ship. And they expect the whole freaking planet to come together and get this right?! I think not.
My uneducated opinion is this: Cut taxes, especially on corporations, which will have a huge impact on development and hiring. Stop spending so much money...the crap this so-called bailout money is going to has me furious. STOP SPENDING SO MUCH OF OUR FREAKING MONEY!
I could elaborate, but my ignorance would show. The above would be a heck of a good start, though.
Jay would fit right in at Maggie's Farm. He is a pleasant soft spoken guy with an old school East Coast conservative streak.
(that last bit, while true, was added because the spam filter hates me).
