Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Christmas Eve

Tonight with NYC finance genius and present-wrapping daughter, and the Judds' Christmas record on the record player. Yes, the record player. A fine, if old, Denon. I have tons of favorites still on vinyl, including around 40 operas and most of my favorite Christmas records, now unavailable on CD.


Candlelight service later - after cocktail hour.

Britten's A Ceremony of Carols on this end. The snow has stopped for the moment. And there are some very pleasant smells coming out of the kitchen.

By coincidence, just trying to buy and download the Ceremony of Carols (record too scratched to listen to any more).

Church in early eve, then home to cook lamb chops in rosemary, balsamic vinegar, garlic with mashed potatoes, baby peas and mushrooms in butter. Polished off with too many Xmas cookies the kids decorated this afternoon.

Everyone but me has finished wrapping and can relax. But I have miles of ribbon and acres of paper to wrap before I sleep. And miles before I sleep. If I succeed in downloading "It's a Wonderful Life" from ITunes (glacially slow connection tonight), the process may be more fun.

If you're of a mind to, you can purchase a good USB turntable (just GOOGLE "USB turntable") which you could use to upload your records to your harddrive, then burn CDs or DVDs of the files. That way you can save your records for special occasions and listen to your favorite songs on CD in more casual times.

people have been sitting that way for thousands of years :)
Everything you do causes wear and tear, this less than things like bungee jumping and cross country skiing :)

I'm more worried about the combo of short black dress, beige snowboots, and white hat worn indoors, lol.

J. T. ... I think that those "beige snowboots" are actually UGGS boots, the last word in youthful fashion, and worn both indoors and out by Those Who Know what's fashionable. Brittany, Lindsay, and other Hollywood celebrities wear them in California, where it hardly ever snows.

At any rate, the young lady is a charmer, whatever she wears on her feet.

she is that, Marianne. I'm not well versed in modern fashion, been wearing black jeans (or slacks if formal) and a black shirt for the last 15 years and see no reason to change now :)
