Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

We finally got him!

No, not Osama. Bigfoot! He is finally brought to justice. But how did he get from Oregon to Georgia? Jet Blue? And are there more of them out there? Is Global Warming to blame? Should he have been a protected species?

Some people are going to believe this stuff. We do live in a remarkably credulous world.

And, related to credulity, a reporter writes Johnny, I hardly knew ye. What a dope. Did that reporter ever work on a city desk? I doubt it, because that is where you learn that everybody in public life is full of it. Healthy and realistic cynicism and skepticism are required if you wish to address reality.

I don't really care where John was sticking his wick, just as I didn't care about Bill's White House hummer, nor Larry's foot-tapping fiasco in an airport bathroom: What I care about is blatant lying with a straight face when accusations are brought up.

We, as Americans, can forgive nearly anything it seems like, except when our politicians lie to our faces. John can enjoy his long life of thinking over 'what might have been'... his political future is OVER - and with good reason. Not his affair, but that he lied about it, instead of just admitting it and asking that he be forgiven for his mistake.

Of course, forgiveness may not have been forthcoming since he felt the need to visit his mistress at her hotel instead of staying home... still, he'd have had a better chance at a political future that way than he'll have as a proven liar.
