Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

We're hip, we're cool and so arty;
We're Democrats, the smarter Party.
We're sophisticated unlike you:
We understand merci beaucoup.
We're ubane and you're provincial;
We're worldly-wise, so existential.
We're cultured, complex, so refined,
We've left you ignorant serfs behind.
We're witty authors of clever puns,
While you clods cling to God and guns.
Were you not so closed and clannish
We'd have you peons speaking Spanish.
We say all this with knowing smirks;
We're Democrats, you Red-State jerks.

Touche! Despite the fact that I live in one of the bluest of blue states, my computer keyboard did not come pre-programmed with the proper e accent en francais! This gem has the makings of an epic poem and now begs for the next stanzas to be penned. Reminds me of Private Eye, the wonderful Brit fortnightly known for it's over-the-top covers, which has succeeded in becoming the UK's leading publication dealing with politics and current affairs. We desperately need a USA edition to cope with the absurdity of this campaign!
