Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

BD: Just in jest, I was going to correct your spelling of "Priuses" and suggest it should be "Preusi", but one of the article's commenters trumped me:

Sen. John McCain praised Mayor Bloomberg yesterday — talking up Hizzoner as a strong candidate for governor and refusing to rule him out as a vice presidential candidate.

Ahhhh! I broke my own rule I read something about McCain in the news. Swartzenegger would make a good VP too. We're screwed.

McCain wants to stake out the vast center, leaving Obama marginalized. It's not a bad strategy for 2008.

Part of this strategy is to abandon the consevative base assuming that they would never vote for Obama and that they would vote for him. If he keeps pandering to what he sees as the center and many of us see as the left of center then the taken for advantage conservative base may not vote at all. Then in hindsight McCains strategy may be seen as a disaster.

By the way, I see Leag is posting again. Does that mean that he's off the hook as a sock puppet of H? I always thought Leag was H on acid.

Until I find a new domicile my internet interfaces will come from a very fine cadre of computers in the Land of Enchantment's public access labs.
