Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

What stupid bastards that run our universities. Just a momentary glitch in the free market system (albeit, generated by the focus-on-girls nonsense of the last dozen years or so). Once the boys figure out where the girls are, they'll have incentive to study harder. Of course one must ask just what is being studied by all these women in school since there's lots of noise about the lack of females studying math and hard sciences. Education "facts" are such a mix of apples and oranges...

I don't know about that--but, I do know she did a very fine job of defining the straight, non-Jewish, white guys that hold university, or government jobs in the state of WA.!

I have subscribed to smalldeadanimals, Kate McMillans' blog for a few years. Kate has always sent a handwritten thank you note. I should have kept them on file! Me thinks she might go down in history.) I recently donated to Ezra Levants defense fund. Will be sending Kate and Kathy Shaidle donations towards lawyer and court bills too. I do admire their brains and their guts. Taking on some members of the Liberal ruling class is not my idea of a good time. The politicians come and go but teachers and civil servants are ruled by the unions and they and their often times thugish tactics, are not going away. Regardless of who wins the elections, they can make peoples lives miserable. Springtime in Canada means union strikes and Indian blockades will be threatened and more. Guys like Warman are really tough to fight but am hoping he and his compatriots like Kinsella have jumped the shark this time out. It will be a long road. The Libs can both ignore and embrace racists and fascists while shouting racist and sexist at conservatives just like in US. It is scary (and funny) to watch them eat their own, like they just did to Geraldine Ferraro but PM Harper has been able to squeek to power in Canada because of a the many splits and disagreements on the left. All brands of Conservatives need to stick together and get behind John McCain and PM Harper in a big way. The Dems have a lot of money. Heard Bill O'Reilly say Soros and moveon.org will be spending over $100 million to beat John McCain. Is going to get rough. Obama seems to be in a very good postion, for now. By that I mean he has less to lose.

I value your thoughts and contributions. I have personally experienced the terror that unions can bring into your life. EVEN IF YOU ARE AN EMPLOYEE WHO WORKS FOR A NON UNION HOUSE. EVEN IF YOU ARE AN EMPLOYEE WHO HAS TRIED TO HELP CLEAN UP THE MANAGEMENT. iT SIMPLY DEPENDS ON WHICH INDIVIDUAL YOU GIVE POWER TO IN YOUR COMMUNITY--IN YOUR CHURCH--IN YOUR SCHOOL--IN YOUR CITY COUNCIL.

Patina... good for you. Kate and Kathy could for sure give lessons in how to have bravery and courage in the face of unrelenting adversity. I admire them both a great deal.
