We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Furthermore, the dominance of these SF Dems - these Vietnam-sentimentalists - in the party and in the primaries is the reason they will lose in November.
One difference between Iraq and Viet Nam for the troops is that, iirc, before 2003, the troops had been in Kuwait for years. Not sure what their numbers were but think they were quite high. At the very least, those troops (and their associated costs), would likely still be there today, right next to Iraq, but with Saddam and his sons and the Baathist Party still in charge.
Hope you are right about November. Mostly agree except that Barack Obama is not much like George McGovern. Could still be some big surprises this year.
