We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"Since it was in the New York Times, I don't take it at face value"

Just guessing but maybe they are trying to get some spin ahead of, or out in front of, some bad news about the Dem frontrunner. NYT already damaged McCain bad when they endorsed him.
This morning I heard conservative talk host defending Big Mac. There's some irony. Wouldn't he just want the "angry voices" to "shut up" and let him and his liberal pals work this out?
This is not good. He now sees that he can rely on conservatives to hold his water, carry his jock, and has yet to reach out.
The NYT is no stranger to the made up story or the pumped up pimpy one either. see if you can pick which of the stories did not come from the NYT. Many won the Pulitzer Prize.
Jayson Blair, New York Times (2003) - Article Fabrications
Walter Duranty, New York Times (1930s) - Russian Propaganda
Hassan Fattah, New York Times (2006) - Abu Ghraib Photos
Jack Hitt, New York Times (2006) - Misreported Abortion
*Janet Cooke, Washington Post (1980-1981) - "Jimmy's World"
If you picked Janet Cooke that means you actually read this piece. You can be proud and say ,
Seems the conservatives are turning out to defend McCain on this. The NYT is coming off looking really bad.
It makes me mad that it usurped the Michelle Obama gaff that Bill Kristol got such a charge out of....going so far as to guffaw on Brit's panel. It also takes eyes off the in-fighting Hillary's campaign is going through trying to figure out something, anything, to fight Obama.
