Maggie's Farm

Here's a Valentine's Day poem I wrote last night for Michelle Malkin. Left it in her comments this morning. Doubt she'll see it, but the thought was there.

A spirit descended, down from the sky
And this was the beauty I held in mine eye
For travelers afar in this disquieting time
One voice knew reason from rhyme,

And her name was Michelle.

In a troubled world as the storm raged and grew
A need in our soul resounded anew
A blackness was cast and pitted the land
But one reached out her hand,

And her name was Michelle.

Hard was the clanking toil of trouble
Swift was the vengeance that grew
Mean was the voice of the vociferous rabble
Tough meant a new day in view.

Cold was the day when grown men quailed
Fine was the blade that cut
Evil was the enemy who came from without
Violence was what they sought.

An empty time, no truth in view
So where is the truth, I ask of you
An empty time, no truth revealed
Except one voice unsealed,

And her name was Michelle.

By dusk of the day, we came to seek light
The media provides, the media blight
Provides us with pablum as the masses require
But we had one who aimed higher,

And her name was Michelle.

To she who is most in our heart

We’re proud to act as a part.
