Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I don't find the BBC's ``should dogs be allowed to drive'' opinion survey, which came about about 50-50.
The spaghetti thing was another in the Apr 1 annual tradition. ``12.4% of wages''
It's just a tax, and the best kind of tax, a flat tax. It goes into general revenue, and offsets borrowing just like any other tax. It's not savings. One of the entitlements, and a handy one, is an inflation-adjusted annuity, and that's one of the things we've voted for people to get. You can buy your own annuity, but not an inflation-adjusted one, because it has to work over 40 years, and inflation isn't insurable for a private company. If you need it, the company won't be there in 40 years. You're insuring against you outliving your income, and it's insurance because it relies on most people dying off sooner. You could be unlucky and live a long time, otherwise. The SS tax has nothing to do with the SS entitlement in fact. The link is mostly a fiction. If you did away with the SS tax, some other tax would have to replace it. In the big picture, everybody has to retire later in any case, as average lives are extended. Some money form of this fact will turn up to enforce it, if everybody starts saving at once, like returns on investment will fall. Thought you might like to think about this. MZ. Choe was an important player when the WA state Chinese/American governor was in office (guaranteed two terms). The connection between Bill Gates/the foundation/Milllenium Goals has been well established--but, there is so much more to it. There is the China/America trade connection and what we are being told we must surrender in order to trade.
For everyone at Maggie's Farm: How do you intend to get the message out before the election? You know which message: the message about the Dems gave away during their two terms--most particularly what they gave to China and Mexico. That message has not been made clear to the 18 year olds in this country! No Republicans have been out to our high school campuses demanding a day off and free bus escorts to downtown to march against SPECIFIC actions taken by the Democrats. When are we gonna get up something to combat that? (DAMN how do you end those sentences with out one of those words?) Re: Iran endorses
Curious that, other than the headline nothing in Gateway or Fars reports with evidence any Iranian official or mullah supporting Hussein. Fars article does report that largest sunni and shittie countries in middle east are moving towards repairing diplomatic relations. But it's a kiss me first before I kiss you sort of relationship, bearing no substance and resembling Hussein's naive gesture. Blogs are neck and neck with MSM in nonsensical headlines. Re: compulsory medical insurance
MorMitt is another huckster who champions such socialist ideas. "Everyone must either become insured or maintain an adequate savings account to cover their medical expenses." says he. Mormons at the ward level are communalists and what with Mormitt's record at the state level, should he ever, God forbid, administer anything at federal level will bode ill for USA. Compulsory Health Ins (OR, universal care/Single Payor) is as inevitable as the dawning of a new day, or a letter from the IRS. The trick, now, is to end up with the best program, possible.
I heard all of the same arguments when states started passing "compulsory" auto insurance. That made sense, and compulsory health insurance makes sense, now. If your child takes the "economically sensible" route of carrying no health insurance, and comes down with a catastrophic illness it will be me, under the current system. that will end up paying (either through higher taxes, or higher insurance premiums.) Understand, as the law stands, at present, I am required to pay for the treatment of your child (and, you, if you have elected NOT to carry Health Insurance.) All I'm asking is that YOU do YOUR Part. By the bye, rufus what do you suppose the Mormon candidate considers "an adequate savings account to cover their medical expenses."
He must have a figure in mind. Or maybe, his prophet has and it isn't to be shared with US gentiles. If IT is compulsory, rufus, your request isn't any less than a demand.
Pay for yourn all by your lonesome is American way for two hundred plus years. IT is socialist command when the government mandates compulsory health insurance. Now, I know Mormons are communalists in faith and practice but that doesn't give MorMitt right to command US folk be enslaved. Go buy your own country. England is, reportedly, ready to subsidize polygamy. Leag, this is the United States of America, not the United States of Mormon. I'm a "fair to middlin" American; I'm afraid I'd be a piss-poor Mormon (like Bud Light, too much.)
The thing is: In the United States we don't allow your children to go untreated. We, also, insist that you pay your child support. If you don't, I know this little gal that WILL throw your ass in jail. Again, we have this Judge down here in Mississip that WILL throw your butt in jail if he catches you driving without Auto Insurance. The Free Ride is coming to an end. If you can't afford to care for your children we will help you; BUT, you WILL help out if it's within your ability. Freedom has Obligations, Bub; Always did - even in Dodge City. matter of fact, in Dodge City, folks used to tip their hats when they got a favor, and say "much obliged".
Mississippi?
That's where y'all don't like fat people, come June. Maybe Festus can suppliment his deputy pay standing at the door of barbeque checkin' folks body fat. I'm thinkin' one down yon could make alimony with a Real Skinney Barbeque concession, but not before kickin'some change to an auto insurance huckster. But me thought Dodge was in Kansas. I understand y'all's point of view and will continue to point out that MorMitt and three men in a tub are all for free rides but not for anyone else. Point is; he aint a conservative, nor a republican but in name. MorMitt should be sparring for democrat nomination with Hussein and the chicklett. Rufus:
Are you saying that, because I am a citizen, that I am incapable or undeserving of independent action and choice because everything I do effects somebody else? Folks,
We have so many challenges on our plate that are at or very, very, near the critical state that about the only one that I can think of that has a chance (and even that's debatable) is whether or not we are going to protect this nation from all enemies foreign and domestic. The international business cartels and their current lobbyists in DC (mostly former Senators and Congressmen, yeah ,yeah I know the law that prohibits them from lobbying for X # of years, but who in DC follows the law?) have a lock on the now global economy ..and it is global. We're hurt'n fur cert'n .... I'm not remotely convinced that the common citizen will retain his/her rights as we know them without "fighting our way back to the Constitution" (a truly great, succinct phrase I stole from Buddy). Right now from both parties the common man is getting hosed like porn star princess. But give us our big screen TV and we'll look the other way as the nation slips not darkness. I don't know how many of you read my offering about the Chinese hacking into our systems, but last month they breached a sensitive area of the Pentagons computer system ..you don't think they could just turn our electricity off tomorrow? Think again. But not to worry with bridge maintenance at a critical stage you'll probably get dumped into the Mississippi or Ohio before the Chinese or the Arabs get to you. Despite your tendency to occaionally confuse old/cranky with with aged/wise I always enjoy your reads. However, I do appreciate it when the other folks step in to help calm you down sometimes ;-)
Just think--you could be me just waiting around for the one that's coming--and we both know its out there! ;-)
ha haha -- right you are -- stock the root cellar & keep a weather eye --
