We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
h/t, Gateway. Hey, I thought the Dems were upset about high gas prices. So what's up with that gas tax? Can Mitt be a tough enough SOB to win a national election?
Hey, even I can see a set-up job. Check out the ratings of groups that do this sort of thing every year, like the American Conservative Union or Americans for Democratic Action.

Of course it's inaccurate. For instance, the tax cut line should be relabeled, "voted against dificit spending". The Republicans have been the "we love deficits" party for years. Same for pork and big government. McCain harks back to a more conservative era.
Why do people think Romney is conservative? I certainly don't get that vibe off him, I get more of a technocrat vibe. And that ain't necessarily a good thing.
Ok, Ok, Ok. I am makin a wager: five bucks says that Clinton and Obama will reconcile their differences and form a coalition of "change agents" that collaborates and becomes the Pres/Vice Pres ticket. Against whom you ask? Well after Huckabee (a pimp for Clinton) drains off enough votes as to eliminate Romney, "Can't win McCain" will move forward with this farce. As I said earlier--this will play out exactly like the Chicago Mafia wants it--and they want it all!
Of course the fem/nazis in Seattle, academia, and other small backwater states who have been promised 'liberation' will work very hard, making it look legitimate. Sure wish the Kennedys would have had the guts to confront the Chicago Mafia when they had the chance.
Oh Sh--- I forgot: the conservatives in this country feel it is more important to stand up against abortion than it is to provide political leadership against the terrorists, the mafia, the Chinese, the corrupt, the fascists, the marxists, etc.etc. YUP --you folks just hang in there trying to make abortion the most important issue and let's see where that gets us!
as a check-writing R I have been invited to several strategy meetings: economics, Iraq, and abortion in that order. I agree with NJ, however if the R party is ever going to become a truly powerful contender they are going to have to give up on the big A debate . . .
